  9. VisChem Molecule Studio version 1.1 will be released on December 20,
  10. 1994.  VisChem Molecule Studio is compiled tri-fat and will run on
  11. Motorola, Intel and HP PA-RISC hardware. To run the application
  12. NeXTSTEP 3.1 or higher is required
  13.  
  14. What is Molecule Studio?
  15.  
  16. Molecule Studio is the companion and natural extension of all
  17. molecular modelling applications.
  18.  
  19. At present, many commercial and shareware molecular modelling
  20. applications are available for various platforms.  However, they have
  21. restricted capabilities in creating molecular images of highest
  22. quality. The Molecule Studio has extraordinary capabilities for
  23. creating high quality molecular images utilizing the NeXTSTEP
  24. environment.  You can create your model with the usual modelling
  25. software and import the data to Molecule Studio.  Enhance the
  26. appearance of your model in an intuitive way by simple mouse
  27. dragging. After that you simply can take a snapshot of the model,
  28. either as photorealistic image or as PostScript image.  Further, by
  29. using the drag&drop feature you can import your molecular image into
  30. your preferred publishing software.  Images can be saved in different
  31. (tiff, eps and rib) formats.

  33. Photorealistic Images
  34. Models can be displayed in three different styles:
  35.                 1. Ball&Stick;
  36.                 2. Spacefilling;
  37.                 3. Sticks.
  38.  
  39. Each style can be further enhanced by a sophisticated lighting
  40. system and the possibility of changing color of single atoms and
  41. bonds to highlight certain areas of the structure . For illumination,
  42. ambient light, distant light and point light are available.

  44. PostScript Images
  45. A variety of display styles is  available for bonds and atoms.  Each
  46. atom and bond can be individually selected and their attributes
  47. changed. Atoms can  automatically be assigned with appropriate
  48. labels.

  50. Movies
  51. This version also allows a customer to create simple movies of
  52. molecular models. These movies  can be shown with the application
  53. VisChem Movie. VisChem Movie is  provided free of charge with each
  54. VisChem Molecule Studio application.

  56. Data Format
  57. Molecule Studio takes molecule data in a very simple data format.
  58. Nevertheless, the application is able to read more than twenty common
  59. molecular modelling data formats.

  61. A demo version (limited to 15 atoms) of VisChem Molecule Studio will
  62. be placed on the following ftp server:

  65. The demo is dual fat (NI) and comes with an extensive online help system.
